Friday, August 9 at 4PM in the Mt. Ashland Room we will welcome back the wonderful young cellist, Chas Barnard, accompanied once again by the superb pianist, Cynthia Stauffer. Having completed his freshman year at the University of Oregon, Chas is about to depart for a year’s study as an exchange student at the University of Stuttgart in Germany.
Chas, if you recall, has been the only high school age musician to be the featured soloist at a Rogue Valley Symphony Orchestra (RVSO) concert. He preceded that by being the first high school student to become a member of the orchestra – as only a sophomore.
The program will consist of a Bach suite, Rossini’s “Duet for Cello and Double Bass” – with his father, RVSO bassist Mark Barnard – and pieces by Dvorak and von Weber. Let’s give Chas a good bon voyage for his year in Germany – or maybe a good gute reise (goo-ta ri-sa). Please read more about Chas in the August Mountain Meadows News.
