Ian Greenberg, cellist, is home for spring break, and will offer a Music @ the Meadows concert for Mountain Meadows residents on Wednesday, March 27th, at 4:00 PM in the Mt. Ashland Room. Ian was the winner ofthe annual Concerto Competition of the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon(YSSO) as a sophomore at Ashland High School in 2008. His playing enthralled our residents when he performed Dvorak’s Cello Concerto here in preparation for being the featured soloist for the YSSO. He was here again in early 2010 to play his college audition pieces, accompanied by pianist Jodi French of the SOU faculty, who will accompany him again on Wednesday.
Ian is now a junior in the wonderful music program at Northwestern University, expanding his talent and musical experiences. Last summer he was a coach for the Britt Festival’s String Quartet Academy, and he studied in Vienna, Austria, for four months starting last fall. This will be another memorable concert. His program will include Bach’s “Suite No. 4 in E-flat Major (Prelude, Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Bourree I, II, and Gigue), Debussy’s “Sonata for Cello and Piano in D minor” (Prologue, Serenade, and Final), Dvorak’s “Silent Woods”, and Popper’s “Elfentanz”.
