The Rogue Valley Symphony is the Southern Oregon catalyst that inspires audiences of all ages and stimulates dialogue through live performances of diverse music and educational programs. We succeed by cultivating growth in artistic excellence, in our audiences, in community support, and in organizational sustainability.
The RVS is a 50-70 piece orchestra that present 5 Masterworks Series concerts between September and April. Each series is presented in Ashland at the SOU Music Recital Hall, in Medford at the Craterian Theater, and in Grants Pass at the GP Performing Arts Center. The RVS orchestra is under the direction of Musical Director Martin Majkut (pronounced mai-koot) and Executive Director Jane E. Kenworthy.
In addition to the Masterworks series, we have also started a Summer Series chamber orchestra concerts at EdenVale Winery located at the Voorhies Mansion. Join us for our annual Holiday Celebration in December, and our Special Showcase in the spring.
The RVS is also active in supporting music programs in the schools. The Chamber Players are a string quintet that reaches out to 39 schools with 60 classroom performances each season supporting musical exposure to benefit music appreciation. This year we have started up a program from Carnegie Hall entitled Link-Up, which will bring music appreciation to classrooms that have no music programs at all.
